 Job Title: Strive for Teens Part-Time Instructor

 Responsible to: Program Administrator and CEO

 Job Purpose: The Part-Time Instructor is responsible for the development, delivery, and coordination of curriculum and service delivery for students of the YWCA Strive for Teens Program.

YWCA Overview:

YWCA NETN and SWVA is an educational and human services 501(c) 3 organization headquartered in Bristol, TN. Standing alone as the only YWCA between Lynchburg, Virginia and Knoxville, Tennessee YWCA NETN and SWVA serves eight counties in Northeast Tennessee and thirteen counties in Southwest Virginia. With three current sites and a budget of almost $2 million, the YW serves more than 9,000 residents each year, advocating for justice, freedom, and dignity for all.

Program Description

YW Strive for Teens is the pilot expansion of YW Strive, a workforce development program that focuses on digital skills. This program addresses chronic poverty, unemployment, and underemployment, which are top issues for youth and young adults across the nation. YW Strive for Teens supports teenage girls (ages 13 -19) in developing the technical skills, interpersonal skills, emotional awareness, and self-efficacy necessary to become the critical thinkers, effective leaders, responsible entrepreneurs, and social innovators of the future. It is offered in a culturally responsive manner with a trauma informed care lens to address intersecting needs of the participants.

Position Description

Part-Time Instructor will be responsible for the development and direct instruction through the YWCA Strive for Teens program up to 15 hours per week. Part-Time Instructor will be responsible for creating lesson plans, for direct supervision of students at all times during program activities, to ensure completion of program assignments and activities related to the curriculum and assist with multi-age educational programs to include but not limited to workforce development, technology, interpersonal skills, and empowerment; all through a trauma-informed care lens. The Part-Time Instructor will also coordinate programming and services with the Program Administrator/ Trauma-Informed Care Specialist, and the Program Case Manager, to ensure wrap-around services are provided to students during their time with the program. All other duties as assigned.

  • $10-$12 an hour, for up to 15 hours per week.

 Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of instructing through the YWCA Strive for Teens Program
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the program
  • Conduct community outreach and recruitment for class cohorts
  • Develop lesson plans for each Strive for Teens Cohort, throughout the year
  • Complete all requirements of the program with students in order to achieve success
  • Adhere to program metrics and requirements through courses and reporting
  • Manage all case files and case documentation according to program policy
  • Maintain a safe environment for students during the course of the program
  • Assist with program reporting (monthly, quarterly, annually, or any other reports)
  • Work with Information Technology for technology assistance
  • Coordinate services and facilities with community partners
  • Work with the YWCA USA to maintain requirements and best practice
  • Coordinate case management services and referrals as needed for students
  • Conduct presentations and class work to students
  • Maintain necessary training to ensure trauma-informed care are cultural competency is being exercised at all times through the program
  • Adhere to all YWCA policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO/ YW Strive for Teens Program Administrator

Fund Development Specialist

Description - The Fund Development Specialist is responsible for planning and coordinating annual giving and special events, securing funds from foundations, corporations, government, and individuals and consulting with other staff in the writing of grant proposals. Responsible for all special-funding projects and the development of fund-raising materials, working with the Board of Directors’ Committees and the CEO.

Location – YWCA Administrative Offices, 1155 Volunteer Parkway, Bristol, TN 37620

Schedule – Full time position, Monday-Friday

Education/Experience – Bachelor’s Degree/Five Years’ Experience

Schedule – Full and part time positions. Potential work hours are Monday through Friday between the hours 6:45 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Occasional evening or weekend training sessions may be required.

Education/Experience – Qualified applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Experience preferred but not required.

Educational Assistant – Afterschool 9 to 12 years of age

Description

The Educational Assistant is responsible for ensuring the physical, mental, emotional and social well-being of the children in their care.

Schedule

Childcare has both full and part time positions available, flexible schedules that are great for students. Scheduled shifts Monday – Friday between the hours of 6:15 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Afterschool has part time positions available 25 hours per week. Schedule 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday – Friday.

Education/Experience

Qualified childcare applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualified afterschool applicants must be 21 years of age, have a clean driving record and be willing to obtain F endorsement driver’s license.
