Powerhouse Coordinator - Glade Spring, VA
Job Purpose: The Powerhouse Coordinator is responsible for assisting the center’s director in the operational and programmatic needs of the center. This full-time, grant-funded position provides the opportunity to assist multiple SWVA communities in a real and impactful way.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
This position provides a unique opportunity to assist as Coordinator of a community wellness and resource center. The position will work with the Powerhouse Director and other staff to provide services and programming through the center and to build and collaborate with a robust network of service and referral organizations.
Center Community Coordinator:
As Coordinator, you will assist the Powerhouse Director on the interrelated pieces that make up the center’s operational and programmatic offerings, including
- Interact with and support community members who utilize the center for programs and physical wellness.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of a calendar of events for the center.
- Assist in the creation and implementation of activities and events that positively present the Powerhouse to the public.
- Assist in disseminating PR materials about the center and its work.
- Collaborate with other nonprofit entities in the region.
- Strengthen YWCA's relationships and connections in the community.
- Assist with oversight of the physical center.

- B.S. /B.A. degree in Human Services, Social Work, or related field preferred.
- Proficiency in computer software applications as they apply to the position.

- Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to define challenges and to create and implement solutions.
- Strong problem solving and written/verbal communication skills.

Job Description
Job Title: AFTERSCHOOL LEAD EDUCATOR
Responsible to: Director of YWCA TechGYRLS
Job Purpose: Responsible for assisting the Director with planning and implementing a successful afterschool empowerment programs for girls in accordance with the policies and mission of the organization through direct interaction and supervision of afterschool participants.
Requirements: Minimum of Associate Degree or three years of experience working with elementary and/or middle school youth 4th – 8th grade. At least 21 years of age in accordance with Tennessee Department of Education driver requirements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Afterschool Lead Educator performs all of the following:
YWCA TechGYRLS Afterschool Program

- Responsible for reading and understanding all YWCA and State of Tennessee standards, policies, and procedures
- Ensures compliance at all times with all YWCA and State of Tennessee standards, policies and procedures
- Operates the YWCA bus in the transportation of girls to and from the afterschool program and scheduled field trips ensuring compliance with all YWCA and State of Tennessee Department of Transportation and Department of Education policies and procedures
- Responsible for direct supervision of girls at all times during program activities and field trips
- Ensure completion of daily homework assignments and provide assistance as needed
- Maintain accurate records including but not limited to; participant and parent information, attendance, meals, accidents, and medications administered
- Communication of all relevant information concerning participants, incidents, etc. to Director as they occur
- Assist with multi-age educational programs to include but not limited to:
- Math, science, reading and physical activities
- Technology
- Social skills
- Introduction to community resources
- Empowerment
- Conducts age-appropriate weekly/monthly themed activities and special events in coordination with the Director of Afterschool
- Implementation of a computer-based curriculum in a class room setting to include:
- MicroWorlds
- LEGO Mindstorms
- Microsoft Office Programs
- Provide first aid and medical assistance as needed
- Supervise and ensure all girls are offered a nutritious snack immediately after school
- Resolve conflict between participants
- Maintain a clean and safe environment
Other
- Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings
- Completes and maintains required training and certifications
Participate in program marketing in the community when necessary
- Assist the Director of Afterschool with general office tasks
- Maintain a positive, flexible and cooperative with all staff, volunteers and afterschool participants and parents
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of YWCA Tech Gyrls Afterschool program

LEAD EDUCATOR – STATE STREET CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER, Bristol, TN
Job description
The Lead Educator is responsible for ensuring the physical, mental, emotional and social well-being of the children in their care. The individual is expected to maintain age-appropriate classroom environment, lesson plans and activities that meet State of Tennessee Licensure Rules and Star Quality standards.
Schedule – This is a full-time position with benefits, scheduled 40 hours per week. Potential work hours are Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:45 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Occasional evening or weekend training sessions may be required.
Education/Experience – Qualified applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent. CDA or Degree in related field and two (2) years of experience in a licensed center preferred.
Other Requirements - Must possess valid driver's license. YWCA is a drug free workplace. All employees are expected to refrain from the use of illegal substances.

Description - The Educational Assistant is responsible for ensuring the physical, mental, emotional and social well-being of the children in their care.
