What is Strive?

YWCA Strive for Teens is a program that addresses chronic poverty, unemployment, and underemployment. YWCA Strive for Teens supports teenagers (ages 13 - 19) in developing technical skills, interpersonal skills, emotional awareness, and self-efficiency necessary to become effective leaders, responsible entrepreneurs, and social innovators of the future.

Goals for Our Clients

  • Gain and maintain meaningful employment
  • Mitigate the impacts of trauma and adversity in their personal lives
  • Achieve and maintain financial stability

What We Teach

During their time with Strive for Teens, students will learn a plethora of skills that will start them on a pathway toward success in the workforce, including, but not limited to:
  • Resume and Cover Letter Skills
  • Interview Skills
  • Financial Literacy
  • and more!

A Strive instructor will teach 9 classes, during which she will cover:

  • Resumes & Cover Letters
  • Financial Literacy
  • Tax Prep
  • Interview Prep & Mock Interviews
  • Professional Etiquette and language
  • Google Suite & Indeed
